For jobseekers

Welcome to the Employment Services! We can help and support you in your job search.

When you become unemployed, do the following

When you become unemployed or are laid off, register as a jobseeker on your first day of unemployment at the latest. You can register earlier if you know the date in advance.

  1. You can register as a jobseeker at Job Market E-services.
  2. Fill in the information carefully. Make sure your employment, education and contact details are correct.
  3. Be as specific as possible about your situation. For example, if you are leaving employment, studying or self-employed. Accurate information will speed up the processing of your case.
  4. If you cannot use the online service, you can register as a jobseeker by filling in the attached form and returning it in person to one of our locations. Please bring your identity card and/or residence permit, for example.

Once you have registered as a jobseeker, we will check your eligibility for unemployment benefit. The Employment Services will send a statement to your unemployment benefit provider telling them about your entitlement to unemployment benefit. On the basis of this statement, the payer will decide whether and how much unemployment benefit you will receive.

You can get unemployment benefit from the day you register as a jobseeker.

As soon as you become unemployed, actively look for work. As unemployment becomes more protracted, it often becomes more difficult to find a new job.
