Lahti will host the Spartan Obstacle Course Race European Championships in August 2025.
This is a new event, being held in Lahti for the first time ever, and is expected to attract over 4,000 participants over the weekend. In this sport, participants race through the terrain of Salpausselkä and overcome various obstacles along the way. The main venue for the event is the Lahti Sports Center.
The event in Lahti will feature three different distances: SPRINT 5 km, SUPER 10 km, and the European Championship distance BEAST 21 km, as well as a KIDS RACE. Learn more about the event on the website: https://fi.spartan.com/en
We are now looking for enthusiastic volunteers for this new event. There are tasks available for both veterans and newcomers. So come along and experience the excitement of a new international event in Lahti!

Competition
Competition Office
In this task, you will work in the competition office. The task involves helping the staff to greet, check-in and answer questions for racers and spectators. The task requires a positive attitude, computer skills, and fluency in Finnish and English. Applicants must be at least 18 years old.
Bag Storage
In this task, you will work at the bag storage point. The job involves receiving participants’ bags for storage and returning them to racers after the race. The task requires a positive attitude and fluency in Finnish and English.
Finish Line an Area
In this task, you will work in the finish area. The job involves giving medals to finishers, preparing and serving drinks, giving t-shirts, and possible products, and collecting timing tags. The task requires a positive and cheerful attitude, and language skills are considered an advantage.
Judges
In this task, you will work as a judge in the competition. The job involves being a judge at the obstacles. Each applicant will be trained, but the task requires a firm attitude and attentiveness, as well as fluency in Finnish and English. Previous experience in volunteer judging and other language skills are considered an advantage. Volunteers must be at least 18 years old.
Obstacle Monitors
In this task, you will work at obstacles located on the course. The job involves guiding competitors in completing the obstacles, ensuring the obstacle is completed correctly, and directing the competitor from the obstacle to the race or penalty route. If necessary, the task also requires the ability to call for first aid. All applicants will be trained, and the task requires a positive attitude and fluency in Finnish and English.
Route Guides
In this task, you will work along the route. The job involves directing competitors in the right direction, warning other users about the racers, and ensuring that participants can complete their performance at the obstacles in peace. The task requires a positive attitude.
Aid Stations
In this task, you will work at aid stations located along the route. The job involves preparing the aid stations according to instructions, distributing water and sports drinks to participants, setting up other offerings, and maintaining and dismantling the aid station’s cleanliness. Aid stations also provide first aid for minor issues (blisters, cuts, etc.) and call for help if necessary. The task requires a positive attitude, and language skills are considered an advantage.
Spectator services
Info Point
In this task, you will work at the event’s info point. The job involves guiding and advising participants and the audience as needed. The task requires a positive attitude, fluency in Finnish and English. Other language skills and local knowledge are considered an advantage.
Administration
Volunteer Office
In this task, you will work in the volunteer office located in the event area. The job involves greeting volunteers as they arrive for their shift, giving shirts and other necessary equipment to volunteers, and providing instructions as needed.
Security
Traffic Controller
In this task, you will work as a traffic controller along the route. The job involves directing traffic at the route’s road crossing points. The task requires a valid driver’s license and a minimum age of 18. Language skills are considered an advantage.
Parking Attendants
In this task, you will work as a parking attendant in and around the event area. The job involves directing cars arriving at the area to park in the designated parking spaces and if needed, to other parking areas.
