Diversity is a force – Lahti Pride offers a varied programme for the citizens during the week

Lahti Pride is taking place for the ninth time from 13.5. to 19.5.2024. During the week, all Lahti residents will be able to enjoy a wide range of events, from lectures to workshops, cultural events, and parties.

Lahti Pride Week was kicked off on Monday with an art workshop. Other events during the week include a lecture on rainbow history by historian Sandra Hagman and kantele retrieval. The week will culminate in a parade and day celebration on Saturday, 18 May, in Lahti Harbour.

The aim of the week of events is to promote equal status for the rainbow community in society, strengthen the sense of belonging, and create opportunities for encounters and learning.

Lahti Seta organises the Pride Week events in cooperation with students from LAB University of Applied Sciences. Lahti Mayor Niko Kyynäräinen will be the patron of the event.

– Lahti is a city for all. We want to be a safe and supportive place for all our residents, regardless of their background, gender or sexual orientation. We support and promote equality and equity in all our activities and oppose all forms of discrimination. It is a great honour to be the patron of this event, and my participation is a reminder that Lahti Pride is a celebration of equality for all Lahtians, said Kyynäräinen.

Lahti Pride week events are open to all. Events will follow the Safer Space guidelines.
