Entrepreneur Eeva Laajoki opens restaurant in City Hall

The entrepreneur has several years of experience in café, restaurant and catering services.

Eeva Laajoki has been chosen as the entrepreneur of Lahti City Hall restaurant, where she will start a new business called Ravintola Eliel. The restaurant will open in the autumn as a lunch café and will also operate as a restaurant on demand. The restaurant owner will have exclusive rights to the City Hall’s made-to-order products.

– We will have a reliable entrepreneur with a wealth of experience in our magnificent and historic City Hall, who will promote the City Hall for all residents. And the lunch option will support the well-being of City Hall employees, says Mira Keitaanranta, Director of Human Resources and Group Administration of the City of Lahti.

The contractor for the Lahti City Hall restaurant was selected by direct award. Lahti launched two open tenders for the restaurant services at City Hall without success. In late spring, the city started negotiations with Eeva Laajoki, who had approached the city.

The negotiations were conducted in good cooperation, and the original conditions were not substantially changed. The only change to the contract is the inclusion of the water charge in the rent.

The choice of partner was based on Laajoki’s extensive experience in cafeteria, restaurant and catering services. Since 2007, he has managed companies such as Bus Burger, Kaapinlähteen Kievari and Restaurant Piilo.

– It’s great to start a business in such a great environment and central location. I hope that not only the city’s employees, but also the people of Lahti will find us for lunch and coffee, says Laajoki.
