Five new climate partners for the city of Lahti

Hub logistics Finland Oy / Lahti, the Lahti Folk High School Foundation, Lahti Ringette, the Mannerheim League for Child Welfare branch, and Ramboll Finland's Lahti office are the city's newest climate partners. They signed their climate agreements on Wednesday, December 4.

Organizations becoming climate partners develop a plan to reduce the impact of climate change on their operations. With these new additions, the City of Lahti now has 35 climate partners. The partnership is open to all organizations, regardless of their field of operation.

Climate partnership is free of charge and based on voluntary participation, with progress tracked through self-set goals. As a first step, partners complete an initial assessment form to understand their operations’ climate impact and set concrete targets. The network also hosts regular events and webinars.

– We recently launched the City of Lahti’s Climate Coffee webinar series, which is held monthly and has different themes. In December, the focus is on the nature footprint of companies, and next year, we already have plans to cover sustainable tourism and transportation, says environmental coordinator Laura Matkala.

The City of Lahti aims to achieve carbon neutrality as the first major city in Finland. Local businesses and organizations contribute to this goal through climate partnerships with their own initiatives.
