After a three-year break, Finland will once again enjoy top-level ringette. Following Espoo’s double gold celebration in 2022, Finland’s U21 team also returned with gold from Calgary in 2023. The upcoming championships will see the reigning world champions face off against a determined Canadian team in Lahti.
Finland’s long winning streak has generated significant interest, promising exciting and skillful matches. Markku Koli, the chairman of the Finnish Ringette Association, believes that the Lahti event will break audience records, especially with Canada aiming to end Finland’s gold streak.
Aleksi Nyström, Director of Sports for the City of Lahti, is pleased with the selection and views it as a testament to the city’s ability to host major sporting events.
The Ringette Association expects a record audience, both in the arena and on TV.
